Local Priorities Dangerous/lost dogs Message |
||
I wanted to provide an update regarding Dangerous dogs, which people around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Today, 22/07/25 at 1145hrs a Brown haired Pomeranian dog, or similar, was seen running across WORPLE ROAD junction with THORNTON HILL SW19. Police attempted to capture the dog as it was in danger of being struck by oncoming traffic. Kind members of public also attempted to capture the dog. The dog was very fast on foot and was not seen again. Hopefully made its way home. Just a reminder to monitor and keep your pets safe, especially when out in public. If you come across this dog , please notify the RSPCA or local dog rescue. This Dog does not appear Dangerous but please consider the temperament of a stressed dog if you attempt to capture it for its own safety. It’s an offence to let a dog be dangerously out of control whether that’s in public or private.
A dog is considered to be out of control if it:
A court could also decide that your dog is dangerously out of control if:
In the UK, it's against the law to own certain types of dogs and this is dependent on what it looks like, rather than its breed or name. If you see a dog loose or if you think someone has and/or is breeding banned dogs, please report this online. If the dog seems to be out of control, let us know by calling 101.
